Artist and filmmaker
KENDALL BRUNS has made a mark for himself via a variety of media. He has the unique ability to make us laugh while simultaneously prompting thought. Keep an eye out for this quirky artist's future endeavors, but now check out the five things that inspire him.
Living Downtown. I like walking on the street, seeing passing people and experiencing a little weather. It is nice to step outside and instantly be somewhere I want to be. It has given me a completely new appreciation for our city.
Chronological Context. It can be hard to understand what is happening at the time that it is happening. I find it very interesting to be able to look back at things and connect the dots.
Foreign Languages. Immersing yourself in a foreign country where you do not speak the language, I think forces you to reevaluate what and how we communicate on a daily basis. It feels like there is a different word for everything.
Quotes. When one tries to write, it can become painfully obvious how difficult it is to say things both efficiently and eloquently. A book of quotes is like a "greatest hits" in communication.
Unanswerable Questions. As a child, I read many books about UFOs, Bigfoot and the Bermuda Triangle. Those topics have now been replaced by questions regarding human nature and the mysteries of the world that relate more directly to daily life. They still have those same root elements of being intriguing and frustrating due to their unanswerable qualities.
