Road to Wellness

Integrative Solutions

The use of complementary medicine has dramatically increased in the U.S. In one survey it was found that the use of high-dose vitamins and herbal products grew 130 percent and 380 percent, respectively, in the period 1990-1997.

The majority of people didn't tell their doctors about this use. According to this survey, almost one in five people taking prescription medicines also took herbal products, high dose vitamins or both. This means, in general, that there are about 15 million adults in the U.S. who could be at risk for potential interactions between their prescription or over-the-counter medications and dietary supplements.

Are you overwhelmed by the hype around dietary supplements? Do you need someone who can make sense of all of this for you?

Dr. Cathy Rosenbaum is a Holistic Clinical Pharmacist who saw the need to provide answers and health solutions, creating strategies to combine and perhaps minimize the medications, herbs and dietary supplements that you, the client, are consuming. She does this in partnership with your physician to optimize your personal health goals. The result is called Rx Integrative Solutions Inc.

This practice encompasses an integrative, research-based approach to wellness, medication/herb interactions, side effects, product quality-related issues and healthy lifestyle choices. Prior to the consultation, the client is requested to bring their medical history and make a list of all the prescription/OTC medications and dietary supplements that are being taken.

If you wish, health and wellness recommendations can be made regarding vitamins and antioxidants. With your permission, Dr. Rosenbaum will send a note to your doctor summarizing the consultation, including published clinical literature to assist in interpreting her recommendations for your healthcare needs.

Dr. Rosenbaum has lectured for Speaking of Women's Health and is on many professional advisory boards. She's also appeared on local radio programs and Channel 9 TV and writes for The Cincinnati Enquirer about the safe use of herbs, vitamins and other dietary supplements.
