I don't want to get too excited, but is it possible that the long-heralded Fountain Square entertainment district is actually starting to come to life? Just months after announcing plans to bring the upscale seafood restaurant MCCORMICK & SCHMICK'S to downtown, The Westin Hotel recently announced plans to open another restaurant called INGREDIENTS. Modeled on gourmet grab-and-go places in New York and Chicago, Ingredients will be located in the hotel's atrium just off Fifth Street. (Now that's progress.) The new Havana features an expanded dance floor, a state-of-the-art humidor and a non-smoking section. ...
While Fountain Square gets its facelift, ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY (10 Fountain Square, 513-621-1588) is also planning to do a little freshening up. Displaying strong corporate citizenship, Rock Bottom will keep the restaurant's nearly 60 employees on the payroll while the renovations take place. Those employees not involved with renovations will be encouraged to spend the time volunteering at local charities. ...
