Artist AMANDA HOGAN CARLISLE is a woman of many talents. Not only does she facilitate
Art Aches at alchemize in Over-The-Rhine, but she also designs custom greeting cards and invites and works as a curator. Her greeting cards are found at the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine, the Rivers Edge Gallery and
Art Aches. Check out five things that fuel Amanda's creative engine.
Good Friends. No matter how busy I am, I just can't say no to a flattering request for custom cards, invitations or painting. I'm always glad about the project when the work is done, and I have a happy client.
My Perfect Partner. My husband Kevin and I couldn't be better suited for each other. He's a musician and DJ who spends a lot of time perfecting his art. I'm the same way. I feel fortunate to be with someone who understands my need to create and the time I must invest.
Spreading Joy. I love to create artwork that's joyful. That's why I have gravitated toward making greeting cards over the last few years. In our fast-paced world of e-mails and e-vites, receiving a greeting card in my mailbox is precious. Lately I've been making custom invitations for baby showers, wedding announcements and birthday parties. I hope to continue to expand my skills.
Dreams of Grandeur Things. I dream of having my own card/invite business. I've recently launched a Web site, cardscouture.com. It's a work in progress, but it has allowed me to create a portfolio of some favorite cards and paintings. My next step is to add my custom invite samples to the site. Eventually I hope to have my cards in shops around the city.
Other Artists. I have been coordinating Art Aches at Alchemize for three years. The artists involved changes each month. However, great conversation and tons of fun are always present. I love to get feedback on my work and give feedback to others. It's a very loving and supportive environment.
