With each brush stroke artist,
Jose Luis Nunez embeds in his paintings a richness often lacking in more objective work. His passion and love for the human figure as well as his ability to portray the human condition is breathtaking. Check out five things that inspires and provokes him to create stunning works of art.
Beauty. It is compelling in all its forms and presentations. Beauty attracts and seduces the human eye. It can become irresistible and overwhelming. It can even take control. I am particularly seduced by visual beauty.
Artistic talent. The first artist to leave a print in my soul was Rembrandt. After him, many others have impressed me with their ability to create meaningful and emotional art. Talent is the ability to fascinate people with creations that look simple.
Contrasts. Intense lights create intense shades. It is the difference between the rich and the poor, abundance versus scarcity or the ignorant and the enlightened.
Human intelligence and stupidity. I cannot avoid being astonished by the marvelous results and improvements of human intelligence in science, research, pieces of art, books, means of transportation and so on. However, in spite of all this intelligence, it also amazes me that the other extreme exists.
Money. I have to accept it. I have been a full-time professional artist for more than 12 years. Like any other person, obtaining the economical means to keep performing my artistic pursuits keeps me busy, worries me and influences my work.
