Articulations: Inside Artists' Heads

Emily Cannon

Emily Cannon
EMILY CANNON is no stranger to tackling life obstacles. This artist, dancer and lover of horses is versatile and knows how to control a room. Her work touches the deeper parts of your emotions. Eliminate distractions and place your focus upon the five elements that drive Emily Cannon as an artist.

Horses. My experience with horses has taught me how to work with the uncontrollable and not be afraid of it. If you can handle a 1,000-pound animal with a mind of its own, you develop a skill that affects every area of your life.

Belly Dancing. Dancing in a crowd of people balancing a sword on you head, you quickly realize you have a presence in the room. I have come to understand that whatever you are doing, people are watching, regardless if the sword is on your head or not. This makes every movement count.

Fears. It's imperative that I continue to do the things I'm afraid of. At times these are the only things actually worth doing. The willingness to overcome my fears has taught me the most in my life.

Coasters. These objects go overlooked, even as they keep the stains off the counter. Coasters remind me to look at what I am setting my worth on and being thankful that it doesn't leave too big a mess.

Cheesecake. Once you have cheesecake, you can never go back to a Twinkie.
