You've gone to the Museum Center for an Omnimax film, I suspect, and maybe even to one of the interesting museum facilities under the old train station's roof. But I doubt you've been there for a concert: In fact, there's a significant pipe organ, dating back to 1929, in the rotunda, that's fit for playing concerts, and a couple of times a year that's what happens. With over 4,000 pipes, played from a console with four manuals, it can reproduce the sound of an entire orchestra. On Monday, you can hear a concert by organist PETER RICHARD CONTE, who's usually heard playing at the Wanamaker Grand Court in Philadelphia, the world's largest pipe organ. His varied program includes works by Elgar and Saint-Saéns, and transcriptions from symphonic pieces like Debussy's "Afternoon of a Faun" and Verdi's Overture to La Forza del Destino. After stops in Austria and Germany, they wind up this week with several gigs in Spain.
