Groove Tube: On Your TV

MacGyver in Space

Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...

THURSDAY 9 P.M. Pat Sajak's American League Ballpark Tour, Travel Channel. Tour five of American League's ballparks for a look at their quirks and history. Go behind the scenes at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Kauffman Field in Kansas City, the Ballpark in Arlington, Safeco Field in Seattle and Fenway Park in Boston. Hey, but our guy Marty Brenneman says we don't have time for "that crap they play in the American League." The National League tour follows at 10 p.m., covering Dodger Stadium in L.A., Coors Field in Denver, PNC Park in Pittsburgh, SBC Park in San Francisco and Wrigley Field in Chicago.

FRIDAY 9 P.M. Stargate SG-1, Sci-Fi. When we last left SG-1, they had thwarted the malevolent Anubis' invasion of Earth, but Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) was left frozen in bio-stasis. Now, with all eyes in the galaxy on Earth, SG-1 must search for a way to save O'Neill before a new Goa'uld leader takes Anubis' place. Carter is taken prisoner when she and Teal'c attempt to contact the Asgard, whom they hope can save O'Neill. Dr. Weir and Daniel Jackson negotiate with untrustworthy adversaries who wish to unite against a common enemy. Sounds like MacGyver could be of some help.

SATURDAY 10 P.M. Banned from the Bible, The History Channel. A two-hour special that scrutinizes ancient writings that didn't "make the cut" in the battle to create a Christian Bible in the new religion's first few centuries. Biblical archaeologists and scholars examine why these books were left out and if others might yet be found. Beginning with the little-known Life of Adam and Eve, we also peruse the Book of Jubilees, the Book of Enoch, the Gospel of Thomas, the Protevangelium of James, the Gospel of Mary, the Gospel of Nicodemus and the Apocalypse of Peter. All that stuff, it should be noted, was going to be included as extras in a Special Edition Bible on DVD.

SUNDAY 7:30 P.M. Airline, A&E. "Judgment Day." Season two of the Southwest Airlines reality series begins in chaotic fashion. A provisioning agent in Baltimore wants to propose to a co-worker, but must wait until she deals with a crisis at the gate. In Chicago, a passenger blows his top and resorts to rough language when he can't get on a flight home. And in Los Angeles, two sisters, on their way to see their father for the first time in 35 years, begin celebrating a little early and might not be allowed to board their plane. Wouldn't it be funny if this show were delayed? OK, maybe not.
