Groove Tube: On Your TV

Spike TV is on a mission from God with The Blues Brothers

Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...

WEDNESDAY 9 P.M. Unseen + Untold: The Blues Brothers, Spike TV. A look at the 1979 film, with interviews, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as clips of Akroyd and Belushi doing the act as an opener for Steve Martin and The Grateful Dead. You have to watch ... they were on a mission from God, after all.

WEDNESDAY 10 P.M. Bands Reunited, VH-1. "A Flock of Seagulls." The creatively coiffed Liverpool act that brought us New Wave hits -- "I Ran (So Far Away)" "Space Age Love Song" and "Wishing (If I Had a Photo-graph of You)" -- is the subject. Host Aamer Haleem travels the globe to track down former band members and convince them to come together for a one-time reunion and performance. Will the guys be thrilled to see each other? Or would they rather keep the past in the past? Tune in and find out if the Flock are willing to put their divisive break-up behind them. This should be good. Last we heard singer/ songwriter Mike Score hadn't spoken to his drummer/brother, Ali, in ages.

WEDNESDAY 10:30 P.M. Chapelle's Show, Comedy Central. In the second season opener, Chapelle pokes fun at Fox News, sitcoms and the healthcare crisis in a series of sketches.

SATURDAY 1 P.M. Winter X Games, ABC-TV. While the games actually start Friday with practice sessions, TV coverage starts here. It switches to ESPN for the reminder of the games, but the mother network will show a highlight show on Feb. 7. Like the Olympics, people seem to have more time for winter sports on TV. Look for lots of color commentary peppered with the word "dude."

SATURDAY 8 P.M. Jesse Ventura's Minnesota, Travel Channel. From the Mississippi River that separates St. Paul and Minneapolis to beautiful Victorian mansions, stone bridges and historic trolleys, tour Minnesota with former Governor Jesse Ventura. Of course, no visit here would be complete without a trip to the Mall of America. Better bring some comfortable shoes.

SATURDAY 8 P.M. Barbarians, The History Channel. "Vikings/ Goths." From the ninth century B.C. through the 14th century A.D., barbarian hordes on horseback thundered across Europe, Asia and Africa. Viewers can examine the conquests and also the cultures, leaders and roles in shaping history. This 2-hour special attempts to shatter the myths about the Vikings, showing how they became agents of social and political change, and the Goths, who sacked Rome yet maintained Roman art and culture in their kingdoms as the empire faded away. It was much later that the Goths started to wear black and listen to depressing music.

SUNDAY 6 P.M. Live on the Red Carpet, E! The crew will be camped out on the rug as folks arrive for the Golden Globes. This would make a great drinking game: Count the number of times Joan Rivers mispronounces a name.

NEWS & NOTES: Both Fox and NBC will kick off their fall seasons in late August/early September. Nielsen (the ratings service) marks Sept. 20 as the official opener. ... Sci-Fi has grabbed Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda out of syndication, and will air the series' fifth season as an original series.
