Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...
WEDNESDAY 8 P.M. Caught 101, Court TV. Hidden cameras capture people taking the bait and giving in to temptation. Viewers will watch the moments leading to a person's choice to cross the line and be unethical, while learning how to avoid being a victim of others' bad decisions. Funny, these cameras never turn up at meetings where reality TV shows are planned.
THURSDAY 8 P.M. Stealing the Superfortress, The History Channel. A two-hour investigation that answers one of WWII's most intriguing questions: How did the Soviet Union copy the U.S. B-29 Superfortress, the war's most advanced aircraft? With access to previously unavailable Soviet archives, the complete story can finally be told. Highlights include interviews with Boeing representatives, B-29 crewmen who were interned in the Russia, Soviet TU-4 aviation designers and pilots. Not that it ultimately made any difference. Ole Ron Reagan took apart the Soviet Union single-handedly.
SUNDAY 9 P.M. Wayne Newton's Las Vegas, Travel Channel. With a career that's spanned everyone from Sinatra to Celine, Wayne Newton is a true Las Vegas icon. Get an exclusive look into the life of a Vegas headliner, including a sneak peek backstage at his sold-out show and a VIP after-party. Someone I know once shook hands with Wayne at a performance at The Stardust Hotel. A week later his hand still reeked of cologne.
SUNDAY 7 P.M. The Beauty of Snakes, Animal Planet. Despite their fearsome reputation, snakes are some of the most beautiful and fascinating of all creatures. This special celebrates some of the world's most spectacular snakes -- from the majestic King Cobra to the tiny thread snake, the desert horned viper to the banded sea krait. Oh, and the Washington Beltway grass snake.
SUNDAY 10 P.M. The John Henson Project, Spike TV. John Henson (ex-Talk Soup) brings his brand of humor to Spike TV with a new original, weekly half-hour series. Each episode will include sardonic segments and comedic bits that speak directly to Spike TV's audience. Henson will hit the streets to find the places and people that guys will want to get to know. Some segments include: "Can I Kick His Ass?" (John decides which celebrities he could beat up and by what means he could do it). Clay Aiken: Yes. Suge Knight: No. And "Prime Time Crime" spotlighting moronic illegal acts ranging from the inept bank robbers to bumbling peeping toms.
TUESDAY 9 P.M. Fast Forward, Fastback, TLC. Car designer and hot-rod builder Troy Trepanier turns a 1976 Mustang into a one-of-a-kind muscle car. Explore the long, tantalizing history of this Ford classic as an American icon that inspires hot-rodders around the world. Bob Falfa's gonna come lookin' for ya.
TUESDAY 10:30 P.M. The Osbournes, MTV. Another f&%$ing season of America's favorite dysfunctional family ... after The Simpsons of course.
NEWS & NOTES: Some sad news. Earl Hindman, longtime soap actor, and latter-day Home Improvement neighbor (Wilson) passed away on Dec. 29 at the age of 61 ... ABC is planning a sitcom based on the Parent Trap movies.
