Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...
WEDNESDAY 11 A.M. The 50 Greatest Episodes of Saturday Night Live, Comedy Central. Each day beginning Wednesday, CC will run episodes (selected by a panel of viewers) until 9 p.m. This happens through Sunday. "Buckwheat Has Been Shot" has to be near the top. Eddie Murphy and that cast's finest hour.
WEDNESDAY 7 P.M. Realm of the Reindeer, Discovery. At the end of the last ice age, 10,000 years ago, the reindeer was one of the first animals to follow the retreating ice. Humans followed the herds, since their own survival depended on hunting this wild animal. The film visits the Saami people in Scandinavia and on to northern Russia to meet people who still make their livings from the reindeer. Commen-tary by Rudolph & Olive.
WEDNESDAY 8 P.M. The Bible Code: Predicting Armageddon, The History Channel. Is there a prophetic, highly accurate code locked within the Bible that outlines past and future events? Does the Code contain hidden messages about people like Napoleon, Einstein and Hitler, and key world events like WWII the Kennedy brothers' assassinations and 9/11? More frightening are references to future events -- including Earth's impending end. THC takes a balanced look through the eyes of Code supporters and critics and let viewers determine its accuracy in predicting the future. A friend studying theology says this is fascinating, but he's found no Hebrew word for "airplane."
WEDNESDAY 8 P.M. Where Christmas Began, Travel Channel. Journey to the ancient towns, villages, churches and hillsides to hear the real story behind the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. Unveil the myths, legends and places behind the birth of the Christian savior.
THURSDAY 7:30 P.M. Lizzie McGuire, Disney Channel. A repeat of the Christmas episode finds Lizzie paying more attention to the parade float she's working on than helping a kindly senior citizen. Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) guest stars ... but not as the senior citizen.
THURSDAY 8 P.M. Biography, A&E. "The Unknown Jesus." This is big stuff, what with the success of Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code (which many scholars say is a load of crap, factually speaking). Here is a two-hour investigation that challenges traditional beliefs about Jesus. Was he really a poor carpenter or an aristocrat? Was he a pacifist or a revolutionary determined to overthrow Roman tyranny? Did he really grow up in Nazareth? And was he a real-life martyr or a convenient fiction? A History of God follows.
NEWS & NOTES: TLC will debut Now Who's The Boss? in March. It's based on the BBC's Back to the Floor, which shows CEOs working entry level jobs. ... It's possible that Ashton Kutcher's hidden camera show Punk'd has ceased production, according to remarks he made to the AP. Then again, Kutcher might be pulling a fast one, since MTV just ordered more episodes.
