Paul McCartney journeys to red Square

Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...
THURSDAY 8 P.M. A&E in Concert, A&E. "Paul McCartney: The Journey to Red Square." Macca shows them Russkies his stuff with his first-ever concert in the former Soviet Union. Fans finally get to hear the songs whole instead of 20-second clips nicked from the telly. Lots of background footage in this one, too.
FRIDAY 8 P.M. Cadet Kelly, Disney Channel. See Hillary Duff in her first film, a made-for-Disney-Channel effort that also stars the very talented but not as widely known Christy Romano. Solid family fare, which also features Gary "Office Space" Cole. Yeah ... I'm gonna need you to watch this movie ... and to come in on Saturday.
SATURDAY 5 P.M. Hands on History, The History Channel. "Ice Cream." Ice cream might be the sweet dreams of children, but it's also a big business that's evolved from corner scoop shops of yesteryear to today's giant corporations. Host Ron Hazelton visits both and along the way makes the dessert both one bucket and 500 gallons at a time. First stop, Fenton's Creamery, served in Oakland, Calif., since 1905. Then he travels to a giant Dreyer's ice cream factory in Union City, Calif. In 1929, William Dreyer invented "Rocky Road" in honor of the Depression. That cheered everybody up a little.
SUNDAY 6 P.M. Live From the Red Carpet, The Emmys®, E! Always a hoot is the awards pre-game. Joan and Melissa Rivers are back to make a Casey Jones out of the whole thing. E! actually starts coverage at noon. That's a bit much.
SUNDAY 8 P.M. Flight Fantastic, Travel Channel. From the days of the Wright Brothers' (who were from Ohio) first flight at Kitty Hawk to the Voyager's non-stop trip around the world, relive the 10 greatest moments in aviation history. Visit the Spirit of St. Louis, the first jet plane and the late great Concorde. See how breaking the sound barrier, thought to be impossible, was proven otherwise by test pilot Chuck Yeager and his X-1 plane. Also a look at experimental planes like Hyper-X, Hypersoar and Astroliner that will redefine flight in the 21st century: They could get you from New York to Sydney in a mere 90 minutes, although your luggage will still wind up in Melbourne.
TUESDAY 10 P.M. Mythbusters, Discovery. You've heard them around the campfire and read them in e-mails -- stories that warn against using cell phones at gas stations or tell of assassins' bullets being made of ice. Urban legends pervade our pop culture. In this series, two special-effects experts from San Francisco put the myths to the test to see if they hold up under the microscope of folklore and science. A friend of my niece's cousin really saw this show -- she said it was pretty good.
NEWS & NOTES: Bobcat Goldthwait and Lewis Black will release DVDs though Comedy Central on Tuesday. ... TBS adds a West Coast feed at the end of the month. It's unclear whether satellite providers (or perhaps digital cable) will offer the different feed.
