Expressing Your Story

By Janet Berg

Marifran Korb is a life coach specializing in transforming relationship issues with the self and others. She teaches many classes to help you discover your own true gifts and find fulfillment within. One of these is called "Express Your Story."

She says that people sometimes need to see their lives with a new perspective. You focus each class on your own life and are encouraged to write about it, dance it, act it, sing it, draw it, paint it or whatever modality works for you. Korb has many prompts and memory ticklers to help you on your way.

The purpose of this is to show you that you're the protagonist in your life, not a "bit player." For instance, making a collage and putting pictures or photos together creates a sort of timeline of our major life changes. Discovering how even the "bad" places we have been have led us to a greater awareness and new, better places and that we're richer for the experiences is a joyful reminder of our journey.

You don't need to be in a major life change to enjoy this activity, although we are very open at that time. Every part of us needs to be expressed, and we need to "play." Sometimes the fear of not being good enough keeps you from discovery. Just playing gives you the permission and reveals -- it's the process that is important, not the outcome.

The final result of sharing your story can also be a legacy that you pass on to family members or others. Contact Korb at One World/One Vision (859-468-8522) or at Soulful Solutions Consulting Services (513-922-8893). ©
