Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...
WEDNESDAY 10 P.M. Celebrities Uncensored, E! If you haven't caught this one yet, you really need to look in on it. It's basically "stars behaving badly" and, while you think it might get dull after a while, every episode is a hoot.
SATURDAY 11 P.M. MI-5, A&E. Imported from Britain, this program follows the exploits of a crack team of counter-terrorism agents who work for MI-5, England's security intelligence agency. In this particular episode, terrorists demanding that the Turkish government release four Kurds seize the Turkish embassy in London and take one of the team hostage. W is said to like the show, but Europe and the rest of the world are lukewarm.
Sunday 1 p.m. NFL Football, WKRC-TV 12. It's the Bengals' first pre-season day game since 1988 and our first chance to see coach Marvin Lewis running the team in a game situation. Maybe we'll also get to see first round pick QB Carson Palmer take a few snaps, albeit late in the game.
SUNDAY 9 P.M. Anatomy of a Shark Bite, Discovery. The channel's annual Shark Week kicks off with this program. In the coming days in this time slot look for among others, Monster Garage: Shark Boat, Diary of a Shark, Robo Shark and Shark Roulette. Planning on recording them all? "You're gonna need a bigger tape ..."
MONDAY-FRIDAY 8 P.M. Fantasy Island, TV Land. Yes, the original. Sci-Fi has been periodically running the re-make, with the great Malcolm McDowell in the Mr. Rourke role, but here we get the even greater Ricardo Montalban. How about this for Saturday nights: Run Love Boat at 9 p.m. and Fantasy Island at 10. Now that's nostalgia.
TUESDAY 9 P.M. Secrets of RVs, The Travel Channel. Unearth the treasures of today's land yachts. Discover how one man's desire to pioneer the open road with all the creature comforts of home led to a massive movement, industry and unique subculture -- a traveling society that the rest of us get stuck behind just trying to get around town.
TUESDAY 9 P.M. Wild West Tech, The History Channel. The Old West may have been wild, but it required all sorts of technological innovations to be tamed. Host David Carradine offers a look at the inventions, advancements, concepts and contraptions of the past that made the difference between survival and disaster (like the secret compartment in the heel of men's boots), how these innovations transformed the frontier and even laid the foundation for America's high-tech future.
NEWS & NOTES: Universal Home Video will bring out the complete series run of Battlestar Galactica in late September. It's unclear whether or not the hideous Galactica 1980, a bastardized version of the original show, will be included.
