90201's Brenda isn't always Charmed on E! True Hollywood Story

Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...

FRIDAY 9 P.M. America's Riverboat Casinos, Travel Channel. This program looks at nearby Caesar's Glory of Rome, outside of Louisville. Also shown are the on-shore sites, including entertainment pavilion, golf course and the Kentucky Derby. Wilco said it best: "The people owe it down, and it's floatn' out of town." They were singing about Illinois' Casino Queen, but it's still relevant.

SATURDAY 10 A.M. A History of God, A&E. A look at how God has manifested himself to people from Abraham's days to the present. Explore fertility rites of the ancient Middle East; the awesome revelations at Mt. Sinai; the jealous yet compassionate God of the Hebrews; Jesus and the mystery of the Trinity; and Allah, the Muslim God of Unity. Discuss with friends afterward.

SUNDAY 8 P.M. The E! True Hollywood Story, E! "Shannen Doherty." She feuded her way off of one successful show (Beverly Hills 90210), mended fences with the producer to get onto a another show he was putting together (Charmed), and then proceeded to do the same thing! What a woman!

MONDAY 8 P.M. Highway Hangouts: Eat & Run, The History Channel. Eating and driving. They made this country great. This program looks at landmarks from the past like the Red Apple Rest Stop, coffee pot-shaped diners and The Pig Stand, as well as long-lasting favorites like A&W, Waffle House, Howard Johnson's and Bob's Big Boy. Learn how highway eateries shaped our tastes as hamburgers and burritos traveled from roadhouse to dinner table in less than a century.

TUESDAY 10 P.M. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Bravo. Years ago Axl Rose excused himself from a Rolling Stone interview to address some gentlemen he thought were homosexuals. "Go get some pussy, you faggots!" he thundered from the moving vehicle. What Mr. Rose failed to grasp is, this is the last thing gay guys want. As a rule of thumb, they know how to take care of themselves, and aren't generally the oafs we arrows are. That principle is the basis for this program. Producers call it a one-hour "make-better" series, designed for guys who want to get the girl, the job or just "the look" -- more style, more sophistication, more chic. Leveraging the expertise and personalities of "The Fab Five" (yeah, the potential pun is obvious) After imparting their invaluable tips, wit and wisdom, the Five end each hour with the presentation of an empowered, stylishly complete straight man with a "Queer Eye Stamp of Approval."

NEWS & NOTES: King of the Hill: The First Complete Season is out on DVD. Creator Mike Judge soldiers on as one of America's most underrated satirists. Subtle, yet brilliant, Hill hit the ground running. ... La Femme Nikita The Complete First Season is also out on DVD. Curvy Peta Wilson is our cult heroine. Scoop it up on DVD -- you never know when it will turn up in syndication.

-- P.F. Wilson
