Biography bulks up with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week Š

WEDNESDAY 8 P.M. Biography, A&E. 'Arnold Schwarzenegger.' The story of the boy from a small Austrian village who became the most successful competitive bodybuilder of all time, then went on to become one of the most popular movie stars in Hollywood history, even though at first he could barely act (at first). Now he's active in Republican Party politics, even though he's married to Maria Shriver, a member of a Democratic party dynasty -- the Kennedy family! Could be a wacky sitcom, really.

WEDNESDAY 9 P.M. Valley Forge: The Crucible -- Winter 1777-1778, Discovery. Despite his track record as a four-time loser, this program reveals how George Washing-ton used the harsh Pennsylva-nia winter at Valley Forge to turn things around for America's revolutionary forces. Archaeologists and historians re-create daily life at Valley Forge, revealing some surprising conclusions about Washington's ability as both commander and publicist in chief. The episode also shows how 'Baron' von Steuben, a renowned Prussian officer, drilled U.S. forces into fighting trim. By summer, Washington was routing the British.

THURSDAY 8 P.M. The Secret History of Rock & Roll, Court TV. Hosted by Rock superstar and Kiss frontman Gene Simmons (who will introduce and close the hour, provide some narration and appear intermittently throughout), this special charts the rise of the modern music industry through the stories of its brushes with the law. And it's just an hour?

FRIDAY 8 P.M. The American Revolution, The History Channel. 'The Conflict Ignites.' In this sweeping look (11 parts in succession) at the history of the conflict that gave birth to the United States, the History Channel chronicles the dramatic events surrounding Paul Revere's ride, the battle of Bunker Hill, the Boston Massacre, Benedict Arnold's treason and the emergence of George Washington as leader of the Continental Army.

SATURDAY 1 A.M. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Comedy Central. When the kids of South Park start using the F-word after seeing an R-rated movie starring the Canadian duo, Phillip & Terrence, their mothers 'blame Canada' for demoralizing the youth of America. CC is showing this, as the title declares, uncut. Hmmmm.

SATURDAY 11:30 P.M. DVD on TV, FX. This series features hosts Dave Holmes and Jennifer Lothrop on a virtual set, introducing scenes from a movie -- this week it's Bachelor Party -- as well as special features like behind-the-scenes clips, screen tests, deleted scenes, star interviews, alternate endings and information you won't get anywhere else. (So they say.) Bachelor Party was a dumb flick, but Tom Hanks (oh, yeah he was in that) makes it worth watching.
