Imagine coming together for an exhibit of John Lennon's artwork

A colorful landscape by Kat McGee's, part of the exhibition Out of the Blue, Into the New, on view at Reality Tuesday Cafe in Park Hills during May

We've been waiting with bated breath this week for a phone call. Like excited schoolgirls, hoping to hear from the cute boy in seventh bell, we have been anxiously expecting a phone call from YOKO ONO. Huh? Well, it seems the enigmatic Pop mistress only gives interviews on her own time, when interviewers least expect it. Ono is promoting COME TOGETHER, a retrospective exhibit of John Lennon's artwork that comes to Cincinnati May 16-18. When CityBeat was chosen for an interview, we were ecstatic. The only hitch? We won't know when Ono will call. It's a mystery, apparently part of her avant-garde image. So we're waiting. According to a publicist for the event, "If they call and you don't answer, they'll probably just bag it." (Keep an eye out for the next Look Here for future developments.) Whatever you think of Ono, you have to give her some credit. Come Together has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities all over the world in the six years it's been on tour. In Cincinnati, funds raised will benefit Adopt-A-Classroom, a nonprofit organization supporting Cincinnati area schools. There's no admission fee to the exhibit, but there is a recommended $2 donation to support this worthy charity. There will be a wide range of Lennon's works on display, including erotic lithographs seized from a London gallery in 1970 for violation of obscenity laws. Ono herself has hand-colored prints of Lennon's original drawings, for sale to the public. Mark your calendars and come together next weekend at 525 Vine St., Downtown, when this world-famous touring exhibit of the artwork of John Lennon makes its way to the Queen City, presented by DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI, INC., for three days only. Hours: May 16, 5-9 p.m.; May 17, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; May 18, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Info: 513-241-TOWN ...

Back in March several hundred people packed into the CONTEMPORARY ARTS CENTER to see local fashion designer PATRICK HOWELL's annual drag show, Divas by Design. The standing-room-only crowd watching performances by local drag queens wearing Howell's edgy costumes completely shattered the previous year's attendance record. This sold-out show marked one of the final big events for the Contemporary Arts Center, before moving into their new space at the end of this month. What do you do after designing the costumes for 17 drag super-divas? Why not become the wardrobe stylist for a film about barbecues? In a recent conversation, Howell told us about his most recent project as the wardrobe stylist for the film Three Barbecues. To create costumes with the right look for the film Howell took a vacation from his job and stayed up late nights stitching finishing touches on dresses for the next day's shoot. The film is billed as a "blackened comedy" that follows an offbeat couple who travel from barbecue to barbecue. If you want to see Howell's most recent work, the world premiere of Three Barbecues will be held at the MADISON THEATER (730 Madison Ave., Covington) on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Info: www.threebarbecues.com ...

Edgewood, Ky., artist KAT MCGEE is coming Out of the Blue, Into the New all this month at REALITY TUESDAY CAFÉ (1518 Dixie Hwy., Park Hills). This collection was created during a 12-year hiatus in which McGee devoted her time to child rearing. Now she returns to the local art scene with a splash. A splash of color, that is. McGee works in digital media, creating colorful landscapes with a vibrant, whimsical feel. If you're looking to grab a bite in Park Hills, stop by Reality Tuesday Café and get a taste for the surreal. Hours: Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday, 6:30 a.m.-midnight; and Saturday, 7 a.m.-midnight.
