Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...

WEDNESDAY 7 P.M. NHL Hockey, ESPN. Baseball starts up, hockey winds down. The march toward the claiming of Lord Stanley's cup begins here. Sixteen will qualify; one will drink from the scared chalice.

THURSDAY 9:30 P.M. Monty Python's Flying Circus, BBC America. An extremely funny episode featuring "The Ministry of Silly Walks" and an investigative report on the "The Piranha Brothers."

THURSDAY 10 P.M. TV Road Trip, Travel Channel. "Los Angeles." From Hollywood's Beverly Hills 90210 to North Carolina's Dawson's Creek, from the real Stuckey Bowl featured in the series Ed, to Gavin McLeod, Captain of the Love Boat, this is one trip down TV's memory lane you won't want to miss!

SUNDAY 8 P.M. The E! True Hollywood Story, E! "The Sopranos." Find out all there is to know about one of the most successful cable series ever.

SUNDAY 10 P.M. The Point, A&E. "IRS Horror Stories." An eye-opening probe into how the Internal Revenue Service, in its blind desire to collect taxes, has destroyed lives, ruined businesses and damaged careers. In their first TV interviews, IRS employees describe how the agency has terrorized taxpayers and how its managers continue to resist positive reform. Not that you need anymore stress with the big day approaching.

MONDAY 8 P.M. Monster Garage, Discovery. "RV/Skate Park Half Pipe." It seems straightforward enough -- gut a dilapidated RV and toss its bowels, the remnants from years on the road hauling soda and skateboard gurus. Then turn the beast into a traveling half-pipe ramp. A design team of celebrities including pro skater Tony Hawk and pro BMXer Rick Thorne join Jesse, skate park designer Mike McIntyre and RV expert Kevin Jenkins. They set the stage for a monstrous overhaul where jagged edges become smooth surfaces for skating, thrashing and tricks. Who knows? Avril might even turn up.

TUESDAY 8 P.M. Bombing Germany, The History Channel. Like Hiroshima, the German city of Dresden epitomizes the horrors of modern warfare. But many other German cities suffered the same fate as Dresden, and hardly anyone knows about them: Plauen, Pforzheim, Heilbronn, Hildesheim, Worms and Wrzburg. By spring 1945, just as WWII was nearly over, Allied bombers wreaked havoc over German cities, killing 500,000 civilians. Why? This program investigates the military and political rationale for area bombardment, featuring aircrew and citizen testimonies. Fifty years later the lessons are still timely.

NEWS & NOTES: South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have inked a deal to stay with Comedy Central through the end of 2005. ... Don't forget to watch your late local news on Tuesday when every news organization will have their annual "have a reporter live at the local post office" to cover last-minute taxpayers dropping off returns. You might not believe it if they didn't have a reporter there.
