Address: 1901 State Ave., South Fairmount
Owners: Sunset Limited Partnership
Value: $20,300
Year Built: 1900
Comments: This two- to four-family house isn't the only vacant building on State Avenue between South Fairmount and Lower Price Hill. But at least a few other homes have been cleaned up, painted and occupied.
It's difficult to tell from the street level, but a city view seems a possibility from the second floor.
The city of Cincinnati's Department of Buildings and Inspections has issued final notices to secure windows in the building and ordered the owner to obtain a vacant building maintenance license. The next step is court, according to Dave Edwards, inspections supervisor. The most recent inspection was March 10.
Mark L. Gooch II of Dayton bought the property in 2001 from two couples, according to the Hamilton County Auditor's Office. On March 13 he sold the property to the Sunset Limited Partnership, which owns 10 other properties in Hamilton County.
Messages for Gooch and Christopher S. Mercer of Sunset Limited Partnership were not returned.
BLIGHT OF THE WEEK is an effort to highlight the problem of abandoned buildings -- and who's responsible for them.
