The Road to Wellness
Homeopathy

By Janet Berg

Homeopathy is a form of holistic medicine that's been used and relied upon for about 200 years. It's based on the theory of "like cures like" -- a similar approach to vaccines or allergy desensitization, in which tiny amounts of the virus or allergen are given to the patient, who then develops a resistance to it.

A homeopathic remedy is made from miniscule amounts of a natural substance that creates the same symptoms as the illness it's given for. If the remedy is of the same vibrational frequency as the illness, it will often provide a cure. If it's not matched up correctly, nothing will happen; there are no side effects and the patient isn't harmed.

The remedies are prepared by shaking the solution of plant, animal or mineral extracts, alcohol and water, and then banging it on a hard surface (this is believed to release the energy of the substance). The remedy actually becomes more potent as it is diluted and in the higher dilutions might not even contain any molecules of the original substance!

The homeopath takes a lengthy history of the patient in order to correctly assess the unique physical and emotional characteristics, state of mind and lifestyle; these are very important in order to prescribe the correct remedy. Quite often patients who have the same diagnosis exhibit different symptoms and therefore would be prescribed different remedies.

Severe trauma, bone fracture, acute surgical problems and severe or potentially life threatening illnesses are not healed by homeopathy; for these, traditional medical treatment is recommended. ©
