On your TV

Here are a few programs to look out for in the upcoming week ...

Thursday 9 p.m. Behind the Music, VH-1. "Run D.M.C." looks at one of Rap music's most successful pioneer groups. They were just three kids from Queens, N.Y. who wanted to rock the house and ended up rocking the world. They were the first Rap group to go gold, to go platinum, to go multi-platinum, to have a music video on MTV, to get on the cover of Rolling Stone. This was made prior to the tragic loss of Jam Master Jay, but it's no less interesting.

Friday 9 p.m. The Search for Atlantis, The History Channel. Ted Danson takes viewers on a spectacular two-hour search for one of the greatest civilizations the world has ever known -- the fabled Lost City of Atlantis. The epic journey spans the globe from the volcanoes of the Azores to the uncharted jungles of South America and even to the archives of Nazi Germany. This program also brings the glittering Lost City to life once again, with painstakingly recreated islands, harbors, palaces and temples.

Sunday 7 p.m. Movie: The Pennsylvania Coal Miners Story, ABC. Besides the catchy title, this movie features local hometown boy Bob Elkin. You'll recall the group of miners who were trapped for several days when the mine they were working in collapsed.

Sunday 9 p.m. City Confidential, A&E. Las Vegas: Deadly Jackpot. The story of Larry Volk, the informant whose murder came shortly after confessing to state agents that he helped "fix" slot machines for the American Coin Company, one of the largest slot machine providers in Nevada. About to be the star witness in a case that would shake the city, he never got the chance. I feel better about playing the slots now. Narrated by Paul Winfield.

Sunday 10 p.m. Modern Seven Wonders, Travel Channel. Spectacular heights, groundbreaking designs and resurrections of past greatness top the list of the world's modern wonders. The Dubai's Burj Al Arab Hotel, the Guggenheim Museum in Spain and the renovation of the Reichstag take top billing. Hey what about The Mall of America?

Sunday 10 p.m. Changing Sexes, Discovery. There's a community that walks the murky line on the gender divide. They question everything society has dictated about what constitutes a man and what constitutes a woman, in the hope of one day coming to terms with who they are: women trapped in men's bodies. This program explores the world of male to female transsexuals and examines what it means to be a man who wants to be a woman who loves a man who loves women, etc. -- sorry about that.

Sunday 9 p.m. Movie: Martin & Lewis, CBS. Jeremy Northam (Gosford Park) and Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) star as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in this highly touted bio-pic. Reports are that Hayes is dead-on as Lewis, something that, if you think about it, might alarm the elderly comedian.

Tuesday 10:30 p.m. The Osbournes, MTV. The first family of heavy metal isn't wild about returning for season two of their reality assignment, but they did sign a contract. That big fat check should make the whole thing go down a little easier.

NEWS & NOTES: Penny Marshall is planning a return to the small screen in a sit-com she'll produce and star in. ... Former wrestler and Minnesota Gov. Jessee Ventura might get a talk show on NBC.
