Boasting an anvil-heavy sound with a trippy, lysergic bent, SoCal's Fu Manchu are one of the best of the breed of Hard Rock bands who worship at the altar of old Black Sabbath and Black Flag. The band has actually been at it for over a decade, forming in 1990, when they released their debut single. Since then, the band has released seven CDs and toured the world with the likes of The Melvins, Monster Magnet, Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity. The band's latest effort is California Crossing (Mammoth), which finds the band in a slightly less fuzzy, somewhat more melodic mode that still manages to retain their undeniable heaviness and love of pop culture artifiacts from the '70s (the band seems to have a thing for custom vans and pinball). Organizers of this show are offering a $5 discount for fans who bring their tickets to the recently cancelled Ozzfest tour.
