Mary Prankster

Playing an impassioned but playful brand of straight-up Rock & Roll, Baltimore's Mary Prankster roll through Cincinnati in support of their latest release, 1999's Roulette Girl (they plan to start on a new album following this tour). The trio (named for singer Mary Prankster) performs an eclectic brand of R&R, flirting with bluesy structures and bouncy Indie Rock. There's also an endearing sense of humor evident, especially on the '20s flavored snippet "Punk Rock Heaven" and snotty "Mata Hari." The group has garnered an impressive amount of favorable press, even landing on the cover of a couple of East Coast music publications. Live, Mary Prankster is bound to be an entertaining night out that'll have you leaving with a big ol' smile on your face.

At Sudsy Malone's on Wednesday.
