Les Savy Fav

Like some of the world's greatest bands, Les Savy Fav formed at art school. The bandmates met in 1995 in Rhode Island and released a string of albums and singles, which garnered LSF praise in the Indie Rock world for its guitar-driven, bombastic yet creative sound. The band's latest release, On Forth, matches razor-sharp melodies with angular guitar riffs and time signatures, which appear to have come from a variety of modern and classic Post-Punk influences (Joy Division, Pixies, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbox). Les Savy Fav's slanted sonics and eccentric aesthetics are wonderfully infused into a distinct, adrenzalized approach, proving that there are still ways of being inventive in the allegedly endangered world of Rock & Roll.

At the Southgate House on Wednesday.
