Sound Tribe Sector 9
|
There was a time when mentioning that a band toured the "jam band" circuit, a stereotypical image of long-haired dudes in army cut-offs, long beards and tie-dies noodling away on guitar for hours was conjured. But fans on said circuit are some of the more open-minded you'll find in music. Witness Sound Tribe Sector 9, a West Coast band with more in common with Miles Davis and Aphex Twin, than Phish and the Dead. The band's latest album, Offered Schematics Suggesting Peace, fuses electronic ambiance (via Trance, Jungle and Techno exploration) with a jazzy, organic groove and World music elements. The results are expectantly trance-inducing, and the band's spiritual approach to making music only adds to the otherworldliness.
At Bogart's on Wednesday.
