THE TAFT MUSEUM OF ART has announced that the 48th season of "Sounds of Chamber," their free music performances featuring soloists and small chamber groups of musicians, will begin after the first of the year. There will be cards on the front desk of museum with dates, always on Sunday, some time during the coming holiday season. This very intimate experience of combined art and music is truly stirring, given the proximity of the artists and the surrounding beauty of the 'music room', scene of many of the Taft family entertainments. 513-241-0343.

What happened to the late George Sugarman sculpture which stood before the Chiquita building at Fifth and Sycamore streets for many years? The bright splash of contemporary color was a welcome sight among the slabs of gray surrounding it. It's still an area masterpiece, only it's now part of the outstanding collection at PYRAMID HILL, a privately owned sculpture park in Hamilton, Ohio. The building owners decided to replace it with "some sort of landscaping." Pyramid Hill is open to the public, offering 265 acres of rolling hills decorated with world class sculpture. 513-868-8336.

Western art is proving more of a draw than expected at Cincinnati Art Galleries. About half of the over 200 paintings of American Indians by JOSEPH SCHEUERLE have been sold, and the enthusiasm is such that the exhibit will continue through Dec. 31. There is also a beautiful book of 203 full color reproductions, plus all of Scheuerle's personal experiences among the tribes are printed as text. He made good friends of his models, even inviting them to Chicago, where he took them to the zoo. While there, they clipped hair from the penned buffalo, once the mainstay of their lives, to take back to the reservation as souvenirs. Many of those who posed fought against General Custer at Little Big Horn, and their accounts are also published in this book. 513-381-2128.
