Now Appearing
Shocking as it may seem, Joseph-Beth Booksellers isn't the only place in town to hear authors discuss their writing and sign your well-worn copies of their books. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County has, at press time, eight writers coming to the Main Library and various branches during the next few months. To kick things off is my favorite Ohio writer that I've never read: CHRIS WOODYARD. Though she is afraid of ghosts, Woodyard has penned six books -- some for adults, some for the wee ones -- on the spooky goings-on in the Buckeye State. She'll do two appearances: Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Bonham Branch Library in Wyoming and at 7 p.m. at the North Central Regional Branch in Pleasant Run. Two days later on Thursday, Oct. 5, ROBERT SKIMIN, known for historical novels such as Apache Autumn, will discuss his latest, Custer's Luck. Skimin will appear at 7 p.m. at the Sycamore Branch Library in Blue Ash. Then things get photogenic as TOM SCHIFF, who has documented our city's vistas in Panoramic Cincinnati, visits the Main Branch at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The Main Branch will bring in nationally known author WALTER MOSLEY at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1. Mosley created the character of Easy Rawlins and has put him to work in a series of mysteries, including Devil in a Blue Dress. More mystery comes from local writer JEFFREY MARKS, whose most recent work is Magnolias & Mayhem. Marks also appears at the Main Branch at noon on Nov. 20. The children won't be left out either during this series: Authors GORDON KORMAN and VICKI COBB and illustrator BARRY MOSER make a plethora of appearances in mid-November and early December at various locations.
