City of Cincinnati arts grants to 40 individual artists and organizations (such as the May Festival, Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Opera, Contemporary Arts Center, and so on) have been announced for the 2000-2001 grant period. Sixteen individual artists received a total of $38,610. You do the math. ENJOY THE ARTS, a promotional organization which offers some great cost-cutting opportunities to do just that -- enjoy the arts -- was awarded the largest grant --$3,500 -- which means all other awards were less. Can't help doing a little math myself. Now, how much did tax-payers kick in for the "old boys" to enjoy the games?
Three Northern Kentuckians were recently among 52 craftspeople juried into the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program in June. This is an annual process which serves to open up a wide variety of opportunities for craft sales and exhibiting, makes workshops available, offers technical help and allows the artists access to a wide network around the state. This year's local lucky winners are KEITH FARLEY of Alexandria, ELLEN HILTZ of Edgewood and TERRENCE KOHLHAS of Park Hills. Congrats all around. Info on how next year's list can include you at 1-888-592-7238 or www. kyarts.org.
No dead artists, please. The brand new DUVALL CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY makes it very clear that the main word here is contemporary, including photos, paintings and sculpture. So much good stuff is being done right here in town that the Glendale newcomer should have a lot to choose from. Jennifer Duvall has set up shop at 240 E. Sharon Road with her very first show by Joe Kiefer. Drop by. Info: 513-684-9034.
