Dana Tindall expanded his horizons when he created Romulus. "(The pig) was kind of a side thing," he says. In fact, the only aspect Romulus shares with Tindall's other artwork is humor.

Even Tindall's descriptions of his work are funny. "My stuff can be pretty wacky," he says, laughing. His "stuff" includes 3-D wall hangings and freestanding portraits. Many are interactive -- you push a button and the art lights up or you sit on the piece and hear a story. (The curious or confused can check out his Web site at home.earthlinknet/~dtindall1/.)

Tindall has taken his talents with sound and imagery to Xavier University, where he works full-time in Instructional Media Services. He began as a video artist and says he "evolved into being an AV man."

His former employer, ITA Meeting and Presentation, asked him to do Romulus, even though the sow strayed from his "ordinary" work. For Final Friday this week, he'll display his recent work intermingled with old favorites at Flowers and Beyond on Main Street. His show is called Certainly Not a Pig.

Tindall already has plans to expand again. "I would like to make some larger pieces," he says. "I'm looking for a big space and big projects." Guess a 50-pound pig wasn't enough?
