BEST OF CINCINNATI 2000

Welcome to CityBeat's annual "Best of Cincinnati" issue, where we squeeze into 64 pages various thoughts from readers and staff writers about everything from the past year that made Cincinnati a fun, cool, weird place to be. A few details of note about the 2000 edition:

· Once again, this is the largest issue of CityBeat ever (120 pages). Each year, the "Best of" sets a page-count record for us, and this year is no exception.

· We also set a "Best of" record for reader ballot submissions, receiving more than 700 good ones (i.e., not stuffed, copied or mass-produced). It helped that, for the first time, we put the ballot on our Web site this year -- almost half of the reader ballots came via e-mail.

· You'll notice in the Readers Picks sections the occasional "no winner" in a category. We have fairly high standards regarding reader ballots -- we're not going to award a first place to someone who receives 10 votes out of 700 total ballots.

· A lot of people contributed to making this issue the best "Best of Cincinnati" yet.
