A whole lot of art in the Keystone Gallery at the TAFT MUSEUM OF ART is easy to miss, but like hidden treasure when discovered. Paul Gauguin's Tahitian Woodcuts: A Tribute to John Warrington is truly a printmaker's heaven. Just 10 prints, but such prints! Unusual techniques like scratching into the blocks with needles and using sandpaper to create texture make surfaces of infinite fascination. 241-0343.
If you're not on the ART ACADEMY mailing list, you're missing a lot of creativity being delivered to your door. And opportunities to see what the new generation of artists are producing. It's Senior Show time. So far I've raked in a see-through, both sides printed announcement for senior design students RAHMIN ESLAM, JASON GIBSON, NANCY SILLIMAN, LINDSEY VON LEHMAN, DOUG DAVIES, BRYAN EWSICHEK, AMANDA RINDENOW and KEVIN VOLLRATH, who are on display this week in the Chidlaw Gallery, Eden Park building, through Tuesday (there's a reception on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.); and a cardboard canister containing a jigsaw puzzle announcement for 2 guys + 6 girls, March 2-10, same place. ANDREA POLING, ELIZABETH NEAL, SUZIE CLARK, SHANA BECKER, VICTORIA DAVIS, UTASI, and JAIMIE FILER welcome the public at their reception on March 5, 2-4 p.m. 721-5205.
Not just any old art exhibit opens this weekend at the CINCINNATI ART CLUB. It's the Board of Trustees and their All Executive show. See what the big guns like Chairman of the Board DAVID KLOCKE, Publicity Chairman ANNE KOPS and Dragon Fly Editor PAUL DAEGER produce as examples for the members Feb. 26-27 and March 3-5. 241-4591.
A little something special will be added into the Masterpieces of American Furniture from the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute at the Cincinnati Art Museum. THOM GENTLE, Massachusetts-based furniture conservator, will conduct a workshop delving into museum-quality furniture care on March 11, 1-4 p.m. The first 20 reservations (limited to 35) may bring in pieces for the expert's advice. $5 members, $15 general public. 721-ARTS.
