Beck now comes in all styles and colors

Beck once again has the critics ga-ga with his most recent Midnite Vultures, a sultry party album that has drawn many comparisons to Prince's early work. Reports from his tour opener in Austin have been just as complimentary, with Beck's group dripping with Funk and the singer himself prancing around the stage like a Some Girls-era Mick Jagger. If you saw his performance at the American Music Awards cermemony earlier this year, you know what you're in for -- a stage show that's part James Brown, part Mumenchanz. Groovy, man. And Hank the Third should prove to be an interesting opener: The prince of Country royalty makes raucous and pure C&W sounds with flourishes of Punk and Metal.

At Taft Theatre on Friday.
