Brave Old World are considered one of the best groups of its genre, performing a progressive, skillful version of the traditional Jewish music called Klezmer. The group emerged in the late '80s as the Klezmer revival was in full swing, and the four virtuosos of BOW have gone on to wide acclaim with their molding of the traditional Folk style with Classical and Jazz undertones, with lyrics (sung in Yiddish) dealing with contemporary social issues. The group's local appearance is particularly special because it marks a rare performance of "Song of the Lodz Ghetto," consisting of music rediscovered from the Holocaust (Lodz Ghetto was a Nazi camp set up in Poland). Also on the program is Winter 1942, another discovery written by survivor Miriam Harel about her experiences as a 14-year-old during the Holocaust.
